A JOURNEY TO IMAGINE

Follow the island’s changing edges: glacier country, eastern fjords, northern geothermal landscapes, and quiet western valleys. A generous circuit lets the journey between places become part of the pleasure.

Days 1–4 · The southern chapter

Begin in Reykjavík and follow the coast through Vík toward glacier country. Break up drives with waterfall stops, guided experiences, and time to settle into each overnight base.

Days 5–7 · Eastward, at ease

Continue through Höfn into the Eastfjords, allowing extra time for winding roads and small harbors. Use Egilsstaðir as a practical base for a side trip into a fjord.

Days 8–11 · Northern perspectives

Explore the Mývatn area, then Akureyri and its surroundings. Match walks, bathing, and wildlife excursions to conditions rather than trying to fit everything into a single day.

Days 12–14 · A western return

Travel through the west with a countryside overnight before returning to Reykjavík. The full circuit works best with long daylight and a flexible plan; winter requires a different approach.
